OSAP Information
Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
Pursuing a post-secondary education in Ontario can be financially daunting, considering the various costs such as tuition, books, laptops, and living expenses. To alleviate this burden, the Ontario government has established the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), a needs-based financial assistance program designed to support students and families in covering the costs of post-secondary studies.
What is OSAP?
OSAP provides financial assistance in the form of grants and loans. Grants are funds that do not require repayment, while loans are funds that must be repaid. When you apply for OSAP, you are automatically considered for both grants and loans. However, if you prefer not to take a loan, you have the option to decline it once your application is approved.
What is NSLSC and What Does It Do?
The National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) administers your OSAP loan. Once your loan has been authorized, NSLSC disburses the funds, and after you are no longer a full-time student, your loan repayments will be made to them. Setting up an account with NSLSC allows you to track your loan details, and it is recommended to register online for one of NSLSC's regular loan repayment webinars.
