Become a Design and Technology mechanical engineer

In this program you will learn knowledge and skills in mechanical design principles, North American design standards, and computer-aided design software systems such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and CATIA. In this program students will also learn how to use 3D printing technology to build part models and prototypes. In addition, as a mechanical designer you will learn how use ANSYS to perform finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics analysis. Students will also acquire valuable practical work experience, not only through many mini projects and a comprehensive mechanical design project. Finally co-op placement is available to for those students who intend to develop their work experience in a mechanical company.

Admission Requirements:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, passing an entrance test and admissions interview. In addition, basic computer skills are also required.

After completion of this program, you will be able to take and pass the following industry-recognized certificate exams:

  • AutoCAD as an Autodesk certified user or professional
  • SolidWorks as a CSWE, CSWA, ...
