What is the Ontario Government Student Funding?

The Ontario Student Funding is a financial aid program from the Ontario and federal governments designed to help residents pay for postsecondary education. It provides a combination of repayable loans and non-repayable grants, based on financial need, to cover tuition, books, fees, and living expenses.

Key Aspects of the Funding

Eligibility:

  • Available to Ontario residents (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons).

Funding Type:

  • Grants: Money you do not have to pay back.
  • Loans: Money you must repay, with interest accruing only after graduation.

Coverage:

  • Funds can assist with tuition, books, equipment, living expenses (full-time only), and child care.

Repayment:

  • A six-month grace period exists after you stop being a full-time student before you must start repaying loans.
