Medical Office Assistant Course
Students enrolled in the Medical Office Assistant course will receive in-depth training in general medical office procedures including scheduling appointments, patient records, medical file documentation, conflict resolution, and medical specialist referral procedures.
Students will receive sound instruction in anatomy, physiology, medical and pharmaceutical terminology, and hands-on training in clerical skills used in a medical office environment. Medical transcription and medical bilingual computer programs are included. For more work experience as a medical office assistant, students can choose to take co-op placement upon successful completion of the program.
To support student proficiency and skills enhancement, upon completion of the course, graduates will be eligible to apply for membership with the Ontario Medical Secretaries Association, the largest medical office assistant association in Canada.
A Medical Office Assistant Diploma from Metro College is the key to a medical office position in a hospital or a well-established medical office. Admission Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Passing an entrance test and passing an admission interview
