The following are the biographies of the instructors in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and CNC Programming
Hooman Nouraei, PhD, P. Eng.
Mechanical Design Instructor
Dr. Hooman Nouraei received his PhD from the Mechanical Engineering Department of University of Toronto (U of T). He has over eight years of experience in engineering analysis, design and optimization. His expertise covers finite element analysis (FEA), geometric modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Before his PhD studies he worked as a design engineer for Bombardier Aerospace. During his PhD program at U of T he served as a technical consultant for a range of projects, partnering with companies such as NANOWAVE Technologies Inc., MAGNA International Inc., POLYCON Industries and COMCO Inc. Additionally he has over four years of training experience in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and PTC CREO. Currently Mr. Nouraei is a professor at Metro College of Technology and is teaching mechanical engineering design subjects.
William Yan, M. Eng.
CNC and MasterCAM Instructor
William holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a senior CNC/MasterCAM Programmer and Senior Engineer, specializing in MasterCAM programming in an aircraft manufacturing company. He has over 20 years of working experience as a Machinist, senior CNC programmer & MasterCAM programmer in addition to his training experience in CNC (including 5-Axis milling machine) and CAD/CAM software applications.
John Scarborough, College Diploma, Senior CNC and MasterCAM Programmer
CNC Programming and MasterCAM Instructor
Mr. John Scarborough brings to Metro College of Technology his 30 years of manufacturing experience in CNC programming, CNC machining and mechanical design. He holds General Machinist, Mold Maker, Mastercam® and SolidWorks® certifications. With his CNC Programming and Mastercam® skills, John has had the opportunity to be involved with the automotive, aerospace, plastic container, robotics and footwear industries. Currently, he operates his own consulting business, where he offers mechanical CAD design, CNC programming and customized business services. Currently he is teaching CNC programming, MasterCAM and MasterCAM project at Metro College of Technology. He enjoys working with students and sharing his many years of CNC programming and CNC machining knowledge along with valuable industry insider tips. He is a favorite with our students as he delivers extensive real world working experience, which students take away to build their new careers upon.
Ramana Rajasooriar, B. Eng.
CNC Operation Lab Instructor
Mr. Ramana Rajasooriar holds an engineering degree in mechanical manufacturing. He has more than 20 years of working experience in a CNC workshop. His expertise includes CNC programming and CNC set up operation. He is the CNC workshop manager of a manufacturing company in the GTA. He also works as a CNC Operation Lab Instructor on a part-time basis.
Vijay Gohil, M. Eng., P. Eng.
Mechanical Engineering Instructor
Vijay holds a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and is a Professional Engineer of Ontario. With more than 10 years of design and teaching experience in mechanical engineering design , he is very familiar with CAD software. Fluency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks gives him a sharp edge in mechanical design projects. Currently he is teaching AutoCAD, MicroStation, mechanical design principles and mechanical design project at Metro College of Technology. He believes that working with different CAD tools in mechanical engineering enrich the student learning experience in the classroom. His rich mechanical design experience helps students close the gap between the classroom learning and the real working environment.
