The following are the biographies of the instructors in the Faculty of Data Science and Information Technology.
Vladimir Kishlyansky, M. Sc.
Computer Network Instructor
Mr. Vladimir Kishlyansky has over 25 years of diversified teaching experience and has many years of work experience as a network administrator. He is certified in Microsoft Windows and Server (MCSA, MCITP & MCTS), Cisco CCNA (routing and switching), CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional and completed Teacher College education and holds a master degree in mathematics and physics. Mr. Kishlyansky is passionate about his teaching and very much welcomed by his students.
Qing Chang, Ph.D.
Computer Network Instructor and Network Architect
Mr. Chang has been a computer network specialist for more than ten years in a famous Toronto based healthcare research institution. His expertise covers network system planning, system setup, configuration, system and data backup, and network security. He is very familiar with Microsoft Windows Operation System, UNIX system, and Linux. He brings his rich working experience and teaching experience into the classroom. He is well accepted by his network students at the college.
Max Mao, M.Sc.
Data Analysis Instructor
Max holds a M.Sc. degree in Information Management. As a SAS Certified Advanced Programmer, he has several years of SAS experience in different industries, including telecommunications, retail, and banking. He has been working for many banks in Toronto as a senior data analyst. Currently he is working as a full-time senior Data Analytics Consultant in a Toronto-based bank. He currently is teaching Fundamental SAS Programming, Advanced SAS Programming, and SAS Business Project at the college on a part-time basis. His dedication to student success makes him one of the best instructors in Metro College of Technology.
Kelvin Li, Ph.D., M.Sc.
Data Mining and Statistical Modeling Instructor
Dr. Kelvin Li possesses a Ph. D and M.Sc. in Statistics and M.Sc. in Operation Research. He holds a full-time position as a senior business data analyst in a Canada-based credit bureau. He has accumulated very rich experience in marketing, banking, and data analytics consulting. In the database intelligence area, for example, he has conducted research, developed and implemented analytical techniques to gain a deeper understanding of customer transactional data to drive insights and recommendations in support of business objectives related to customer retention. In addition, he has summarized a series of projects including best customer models, marketing segmentation, business forecasting model, association basket analysis and campaign analysis. In the past 10 years he has used these real world projects as teaching templates and helped many students remain competitive in the job market and what is more important, to explore their career development opportunities.
Ar Kar Min, M. P.H.
Data Analysis Instructor
Mr. Ar Kar Min is a Certified Advanced SAS programmer. He has a strong education background with a MPH (Master Degree in Public Health). He has over 10+ years of work experience in the health care and telecom industry with wide range of skills and knowledge including reporting, and high level data analysis. His knowledge of end-to-end data base marketing process and procedures enables him to identify data issues, discrepancies and improve accuracy. He is proficient in using statistical software packages to prepare and write analytical reports. Now he has been working as a senior data consultant and database marketing campaign manager for a Toronto-based telecommunication company since 2011. He received a 2014 Rogers CEO Team Award of the year for launching the NHL Program. On part-time basis, he is a data analysis instructor at Metro College of Technology.
Arpita Chimanlal, M. Sc.
SQL Programming Instructor
Ms Chimanlal has many years of successful work experience as a .Net SQL developer. Currently she is a Full Stack developer at a Toronto-based IT Company. In addition, she also has excellent teaching experience. Ms. Chimanlal holds a master degree in Software Engineering from Concordia University. For the last few years, she has received awards for best performer of the month many times. She is teaching SQL programming at Metro College of Technology on a part-time basis. She shares her work experience with her students unselfishly and is very popular with them.
